Hello Kelly, Well I got your site address on my links page now. Check out what I wrote about you, if you want to change it notify the clown immediately. Your work is rich and rough. I went to all the art museums in DC once a long time ago. I spent hours and hours wandering the halls, sketching things and absorbing the variety of creativity and expression. At one point during my 6 day self appointed tour I had a realization as I was looking at a loaf of French bread painted blue. To me personally I don't see what the artist is trying to say so much through their art, rather more often I perceive what they were feeling, their emotion during the creation of their piece. When I saw your art I felt jolted somewhat, I felt like laughing too, I felt quick and responsive, unand free of any left-lobe sensibilities. You've kicked your brain into something wonderful. I read a few of the other entries in here and see that people come from such varied parts of their brain and psyche as they approach art and what it means to them. See ya! I enjoy outsider art, but your artwork scared me. Were you punk in the 80's, seems like a lot of Robert Smith type feelings in your work. I was drawn to look at them even though I wasn't certain I actually liked the subject matter. The work illicited an immediated reaction though, which is what I want art to do. I'd rather feel repulsion than boredom. Even though its not my taste, I think you've got something unique.

Comments:I just want to say that it is so easy for a person to sit down and critisize someone else's artwork. I may even give some sensation of self-importance todo so.
Just the fact that Kelly has found it in herself to express herself in paint and that she has found the courage and technology to present her work on computer is evidence of her hope and inspiration.� She has allowed for us to critique her work because she obviously would like to review the constructive critisism. Kelly,I think it is commendable that you have3 the zest and inspiration to paint.I think it is great that youdo not fear the use of color, and use it boldly.I feel that it would not be a bad idea for you to explore and study the intrinsic qualitites of light and shadow....paying careful attention to your light-source and subsequent reactions as the light bounces off the object andonto another etc. Your work could benefit from further attention to depth, tonal manipulation and detail. It appears to be very one dimensional, although, there is a certain merit to this style...it's just that I get the feeling you are thinking...this is safe and so, I'll just with it...repeat...repeat...and you are ready to progress further. I encourage you and you ARE an artist.No one has the right to tell you to stop creating or calling yourself an artist. There is always room for improvement in all walks of life. I appreciate that you possess the VERY important quality of motivational marketing..as one NEEDS to self promote, subtly and the best way to promote ones's art is to presetn the work and let it speak for itself. I strongly believe that is is important NOT to present EVERY piece you have every done...just the BEST;as people will judge your merit on all that they see.I weed out[spring clean] my portfoloio regularly-showing only the best[and what rates as the "best" is continually changing of course.You site has far too many paintings available for viewing...perhaps you may choose to shift the art around, from time to time, so the selection varies. The quantity is somewhat overwhelming/vs the quality. Keep paintin and don't pay attention to theney-sayers.

You are not afraid to use color.You seem to have a good sense of color. I notice you choose to use mainly primary and secondary colors.Very whimsical.
I also notice some inspirations from Picasso.
Keep on creating and I wish you much success in the sales/distribution of your art. Your prices are a tad low.Start high so as to leave room for negiotitation.It is very hard to justify the escalation of prices and this is why i hate to see you undersell yourself.

Aloha Kelly, I just wanted to reply to folks that think art needs to look or be a certain way. The point of doing any art is to HAVE FUN doing your art you will automatically connect with people because they respond to the JOY and FUN you are having doing the painting. Art is about EXPRESSION. (which may or may not be commercially viable) If you are having FUN...EXPRESSING yourself then you are helping everyone else to see that it IS possible to do what you LOVE and that they can too!
