all incite a sensory riot
for an artist who lives
in a dry ocean in new mexico
but m not surprised
that Henry Miller
chose to live here
as well as many other artist

the drive along highway 1
takes my breath away
the views are spectacular
and better than any photo youve seen
and the immensity of the
life force in the water
is so mysterious
to a desert dweller
that it feels like an
unexplored planet

California has many different cultures
as usual
i prefer the ones away from
city living
closer to the Ocean
and the animals who
inhabit it
where i can see things
with less noise and distraction
taking in the smells sights and sounds
that can shape a new painting
inform a new write
or perhaps just make
for a beautiful day
on our small blue
marble in the cosmos
